Background
The Outreach and Business Development Team (OBDT) is responsible for proactively driving the strategic positioning of UNIFEM so that the size, sources and predictability of its resources help the organization achieve its strategic goals. A service center to UNIFEM HQ Sections and Field Offices, OBDT is organized into three functional clusters: Resource Mobilization, Partnerships, Communications and Advocacy. Given the scope and interrelationships of OBDT's functional responsibilities, the work of OBDT is highly synergistic, involving constant and direct interaction and information-sharing among team members, to provide high quality advice, services and support to UNIFEM.

Under the supervision of the Resource Mobilization Lead and in collaboration with OBDT colleagues and the UNIFEM Directorate, the Partnerships Specialist supports and strengthens the OBDT collaborative efforts and partnerships with UN Member States and civil society organizations. The Staff Member will support the implementation of UNIFEM's partnership and resource mobilization strategies that are crucial to the achievement of resource mobilization and outreach targets.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. UNIFEM partnerships

* Support the Resource Mobilization Lead in identifying and mobilizing key strategic partnerships (CSO, Foundations and private sector) to enhance impact and influence the gender equality agenda;
* Package and position UNIFEM products, projects and programmes to attract and strengthen strategic partnerships with NGO, Foundations and the private sector;
* As the focal point in OBDT for gender and climate change, conduct a scan of civil society and UN activities related to the climate change agenda, support UNIFEM's engagement in the Secretary-General's initiative to green the UN (Sustainable UN or SUN initiative); and liaise with relevant UNIFEM sections to respond to environment-related inquiries from UN Secretariat, Governments and civil society; and
* Perform other tasks as required in response to the evolving needs of OBDT and related outreach initiatives.

2. UNIFEM Campaigns

* Provide structural support to UNIFEM Campaigns, including the "Say NO to Violence against Women" campaign. This will include managing correspondence with new Supporting Organizations, updating campaign materials and other campaign-related responsibilities;
* Support the Resource Mobilization Lead in managing inquiries to UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador, and provide logistical support to the annual 25 November event;
* Manage other important events within the purview of OBDT in collaboration with the Communication and Inter-governmental teams in OBDT.

3. Donor Focal Point (DFP) system

* As Donor Focal Point for specific countries, ensure regular communication with Permanent Missions to the United Nations in New York and capitals for strengthened relationships with UN Member States;
* Support the Donor Focal Point system by creating and managing the repository of Donor Profiles that provide essential donor intelligence and support to UNIFEM Directorate missions to Capitals and meetings with Member State representatives;
* Prepare briefing materials through liaison with UNIFEM geographic and thematic sections regarding cost-sharing information.
* Provide training to other Donor Focal Points on processes related to the collection of donor intelligence and maintenance of Donor Profiles.

Required Skills and Experience

Education

* Advanced degree in international relations, political sciences, public administration, business administration, communications or a related field.

Experience

* Professional experience or degree in field related to the environment, sustainable development or climate change.
* A minimum of 3 years experience in non-governmental organizations, partnerships and liaison positions or a related field at the national or international level; experience in the UN system an asset.

Language

* Fluency in English (written and oral) knowledge of another UN language preferred.
